Power Glory: How Does a Single CR2032 Battery Keep Your Smart Life Running?
The CR2032 is one of the most widely used lithium-manganese button cells in the world, quietly providing a stable power supply for everything from computer motherboards, electronic price tags, and car keys to medical monitoring devices and TPMS tire pressure sensors.
With over two decades of expertise in the field of lithium micro-power sources, Power Glory’s full CR2032 product line—including standard, PH (high-capacity), HT (high-temperature), T (wide-temperature), and D (low-temperature) variants—has become a reliable choice for numerous applications thanks to its high capacity, ultra-low self-discharge, and stable output.
What exactly is a CR2032?
“CR” stands for the “lithium-manganese dioxide” chemical system; “20” refers to a diameter of 20 mm, and “32” refers to a thickness of 3.2 mm. It uses metallic lithium as the negative electrode and manganese dioxide as the positive electrode, with a nominal voltage of 3 V—approximately twice that of an alkaline button cell.
Thanks to the extremely high electrochemical activity of metallic lithium, the CR2032 achieves an energy density far exceeding that of alkaline button cells within an extremely small volume, while also offering advantages such as a stable discharge rate, an extremely low self-discharge rate, and no memory effect.
For this reason, the CR2032 is widely used in computer motherboards, POS terminals, real-time clocks, rice cookers, and other applications, serving as a CMOS backup power source to safeguard the “memory” and “time” of these devices.
The Three Key Advantages of the Power Glory CR2032
High Capacity, Longer Life
The Power Glory CR2032 has a nominal capacity of 220 mAh, while the PH model boasts a nominal capacity of 245 mAh. Thanks to a proprietary material formulation and precision manufacturing processes, it delivers long-lasting and stable discharge performance. Whether used for computer motherboard BIOS memory or in everyday devices such as car remote keys, it provides a consistent and reliable power supply.
Ultra-Low Self-Discharge, Long Storage Life
The annual self-discharge rate is kept below 2%. Even after more than five years in storage, the battery retains over 90% of its usable capacity. For factories and distributors purchasing in bulk, this translates to lower wastage and more flexible inventory management.
Smooth Discharge and Stable Voltage
Throughout the entire discharge cycle, the voltage output curve of the Power Glory CR2032 remains exceptionally smooth, with no sudden power drops. This is particularly important for medical devices (such as blood glucose meters and heart rate monitors) and industrial real-time clock circuits that require a continuous and precise power supply.
