Lithium Button Batteries Production
The production process for primary lithium manganese dioxide (Li/MnO₂) coin cells :
Simple Production Process of Primary Li/MnO₂ Coin Cells
Cathode Preparation – Mix MnO₂ powder with conductive additives and binder, coat the mixture onto aluminum mesh, dry, and press into cathode pellets.
Anode Preparation – Cut lithium foil into discs of the required size.
Separator & Electrolyte – Place a porous separator (e.g., polypropylene) between the cathode and anode, then inject a lithium salt‑based organic electrolyte.
Cell Assembly – Stack the cathode, separator, and lithium anode inside a stainless steel coin case. Add a wave spring and gasket for proper contact and sealing.
Crimping (Sealing) – Mechanically crimp the coin cell to form a hermetic seal in a dry, low‑humidity environment (e.g., glove box).
Aging & Testing – Store cells at room temperature for several days to stabilize, then test for open‑circuit voltage, internal resistance, and capacity.
Inspection & Packaging – Visually inspect and sort cells before vacuum packaging for shipment.
